New Dexcom G6 Users Users with Type 1 Diabetes

Category A - For people with type 1 diabetes aged 21 years or older

As of 1st August 2022, all individuals whether new Dexcom G6 users or self-funded existing Dexcom G6 users, will now follow the same process as outlined below:

  1. Review the eligibility criteria available at ndss.com.au/about-the-ndss/cgm-initiative/ and speak to your healthcare professional (HCP) to see which product is right for you
  2. Complete the relevant Access Form found at ndss.com.au/about-the-ndss/cgm-initiative/. This needs to be prepared and signed by your HCP 
  3. Diabetes Australia will contact you to confirm eligibility for access to subsidised CGM products
  4. The initial Dexcom kit will be sent to your HCP for the Dexcom start 
  5. Following on from here, you can order and collect supplies from your local NDSS Checkpoint pharmacy

Self-funded Dexcom G6 users with Type 1 Diabetes 

Category B - for self-funded CGM users with type 1 diabetes

Note: As of 31st July 2022, the streamlined process for self-funded existing Dexcom G6 users has now closed.

As of 1st August 2022, all individuals whether self-funded existing Dexcom G6 users or new Dexcom G6 users, will now follow the same process as outlined below:

  1. Review the eligibility criteria available at ndss.com.au/about-the-ndss/cgm-initiative/ and speak to your healthcare professional (HCP) to see which product is right for you
  2. Complete the relevant Access Form found at ndss.com.au/about-the-ndss/cgm-initiative/. This needs to be prepared and signed by your HCP 
  3. Diabetes Australia will contact you to confirm eligibility for access to subsidised CGM products
  4. The initial Dexcom kit will be sent to your HCP for the Dexcom start

How can I access the Dexcom G6 Subsidy?

The streamlined process for existing self-funded users has now closed, as of 31st of July 2022.

All individuals, whether new Dexcom G6 users or existing Dexcom G6 users will now need to following the process outlined below.

Speak to your healthcare professional today to see if Dexcom is right for you. Your healthcare professional will be able to submit a switch form on your behalf to the NDSS.
